The combustion of butane in oxygen produces carbon dioxide and water. C4H10 + O2 → CO2 + H2O .Find a balanced chemical equation for this reaction.

For the question above utilise the post-obit instructions :-

i)               Form the system of linear equations

ii)             Change the augmented matrix to reduced row-echelon class

one Expert Answer

2C4H10 + 13O2 → 8CO2 + 10H2O

In the counterbalanced equation above

There are eight Carbons xx Hydrogens and 26 Oxygens on one side and 8 Carbons 16 Oxygen and xx Hydrogens and ten Oxygens totalling again eight Carbons, 26 Oxygens and 20 Hydrogens

With your three elements C, H and O you demand practice the following 8 steps Place the equation to balance. (that is given in your question) Identify the elements.(Also given in your question) Set the vector equation. Set the equation to 0 and obtain the augmented matrix. Row-reduce to reduced row-echelon form. Reparameterize the free variable and solve for the variables. Substitute an appropriate value for . Substitute the coefficients, they will be fractions with a common multiple of -10(to give 2, 13,= viii, 10) into the chemical equation. The chemically balanced equation shows what kind of numbers you should go after going through the process above. You tin can look this upward on the internet if you lot need a longer example. Hope this helps. The balance chemic shows what you should end up after going through your matrix
